About Veruschka

Independent Pop Singer-songwriter Veruschka hails from Perth, Western Australia. Born to a Jamaican mother and German father, it was no surprise that music became a means of self–expression and exploring her cultural heritage.  Her mother exposed her to the best of Motown – Aretha Franklin, Ottis Redding and the likes, while her father exposed to the best of Classical Music.  Composer Vivaldi is still a favourite of Veruschka’s.

A dynamic live performer characterised by “piercing vocals… insightful lyricism…[and]… guaranteed international appeal”, it comes as no surprise that Veruschka has performed regularly at some of Sydney and Perth’s best live venues; notably The Basement, The Seymour Centre, and the MTV Music Awards After Party, (Acer Arena).

Since relocating from Sydney back to Perth Western Australia, the half Jamaican half German beauty has been in fierce demand on Perth’s live gig circuit, working with covers bands and as a solo act, accompanying herself on piano.

In December 2019, Veruschka released her first self-produced single titled Dance In Paris.  Citing Daft Punk, and David Guetta as production influences, and driven by a desire to explore and create her own sound, the single marks a shift away from her R&B roots to a more pop sensitive sound.

In 2018, Veruschka won the national heat of the Asia Pacific Francophone Song Contest and was selected to represent Australia in the finals of the competition, held in Taipei, Taiwan.  Veruschka’s demo of her song Easier was a selected as a top 10 finalist in the Urban Music Category for the 2006 Oz Music Awards, Australia’s most noted unsigned songwriting completion.

Her vocals have appeared on film and tv, notably the soundtrack for the documentary Contact that premiered in the 2009 Sydney Film Festival.

The songstress has worked with respected Melbourne-based Producer & Engineer Chris Corby (DEEPFACE: ARIA nominated-album, You Am IPaul Van Dyk).

Veruschka is working towards releasing her first EP, self-producing and writing songs independently.
